1927

The foundation of the OSON glassware factory and export, Oskar Sontag, took place in Lichte, Thuringia, by Oskar Sontag. At that time, the number of employees already added up to 200. The enterprise was equipped with 20 glass processing machines on which hollow glassware (glass tubes) was handled for medical and cosmetic receptacles.

1948

Due to the confused circumstances caused by the war, the family had to take refuge to the Western part of Germany. Here, during the years between 1948 and 1955, four glass factories were established, i.e. OSON Volkach, OSON Crailsheim, ISO Königshofen and glass factory in Speyer.

1949

The company OSON in Crailsheim started their production in the year 1949 with the company’s owner Klaus Sontag on the former airport area in Crailsheim. This site had to be cleared in 1959 because of home requirements of the German armed forces. The complete business moved to the newly established production halls to Crailsheim-Onolzheim. Here the production was continued according to the latest technical aspects. At that time up to 200 collaborators could be employed. For economic reasons Messrs. OSON had to close their factory buildings in 1971.

1971

The grandson of the company’s founder acquired one of the former production halls and thus he took the chance for a new start in the 3rd generation on 1st December 1971. The newly founded glassware factory Martin Sontag specialized in the production of cylinder ampoules (carpules) which then were mainly used in the dental field as anesthetic injections. Later, these cylinder ampoules (carpules) were extended to all possible ranges. They have in addition decided to use the carpules as application for insulin. Through this specialisation a high quality standard could be reached which primarily contributed to steadily extend the clientele. The size of the enterprise allows a high flexibility when coming up to special customers’ requirements, as e.g. the printing of mini batches by the complete in-house production of the stencils for screen printing, shortest delivery times by corresponding timing.
